Dear Guests,
We love serving others. That is what attracted us to become innkeepers many years ago after selling our newspaper distribution business in the Philadelphia suburbs. In June 2000, we became proud owners of B.F. Hiestand House, a High Queen Anne Victorian Bed & Breakfast in the historic river town of Marietta, PA Lancaster County.
This National Historic Registry of Homes property was occupied by three generations of the Hiestand/Vanderslice family from 1887-1989. Sally Vanderslice McMorris was very helpful in telling us about the house and shared many photos of her family with us. We look forward to Sally and her husband Jim’s annual visits. It was with great pleasure to meet the whole family back in 2010 at their family reunion here. Though needing much love and care when we purchased the home, we have carefully restored it to its original grandeur featuring five guest rooms in the main house. We also turned a small building on the property into luxurious private cottage. Although there are many antiques and historic photos throughout the house, all the rooms are appointed with modern guest comfort in mind featuring luxury linens and baths.
Because of our passion for organic gardening, guests are served many fresh fruits and vegetables from local growers and our own garden. We insist on serving local produce, eggs and meats. We love to make delectable goodies, baked from scratch to serve during breakfast and as afternoon snacks.
When we aren’t taking care of guests, we are looking for new attractions around Lancaster or spending time with our adult twin daughters and their families. We are proud grandparents of Charlie, age 7, Samantha, age 5, Cooper, age 3 and Sophie, a newborn! Please let us host your stay in Lancaster County. We will be happy to help you make the most of everything there is to see and do here.
