January is Cabin Fever Month

This is a great time to visit Lancaster County. Take advantage of our Cabin Fever Special – book a two night stay and get the second night FREE! Many of our area attractions offer unique programs and it is an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. We are sure that you’ll find something of interest to bring you to the B.F. Hiestand House in January.  Here is what’s happening…

Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum offers a Winter Workshop: Heirloom Seed Project, Attracting Birds and Butterflies on January 10, 2015. This two-part interactive program will show you how to attract birds and butterflies to your garden by providing food, water, habitat and nesting sites.

Join Naturalist Lisa J. Sanchez on January 10 and January 20, 2015 at the Lancaster County Parks Environmental Center for an opportunity to watch and learn about wildlife in winter. Learn identification and tracking skills to use throughout the seasons.

The Fulton Opera House hosts the Classic Concert Series: Cabin Fever on January 16-18, 2015. You’ll have no more winter blues after listening to the evocative percussion of Peck’s Glory and the Grandeur, the inspirational interpretation of the festive Mozart ‘Turkish’ with rising violin star Asi Mathatius, and the most endearing of Brahms’ four symphonic works, Symphony No. 2.

The American Music Theatre is having an Elvis Birthday Bash on January 17 and 18, 2015. Widely considered the premier Elvis impersonators, Scott Bruce and Mike Albert return to perform as the young and old Elvis, respectively.  Mike Albert has been featured on Oprah Winfrey and Inside Edition, and often appears with Elvis’ original group, the Jordanaires. On January 23 stand-up comedian Billy Gardell is on stage and on January 24 join Buddy Valastro: The Cake Boss for an evening of cakes, stories and fun.

On January 17, 18 and 19, 2015 the Antique Automotive Antique Club of America (AACA) Museum hosts a Community Weekend. Throughout the weekend, admission to the Museum will be $7 to everyone and will feature a “CARS” Scavenger Hunt in the Museum. The Museum’s original and restored vintage vehicles are displayed in such a way as to bring the history of the automobile to life.

Is every snowflake different? Learn about snowflakes with Naturalist Karen Waltemyer at the Lancaster County Parks Environmental Center who will answer all your questions at her slideshow presentation on January 18, 2015.

The Ephrata Cloister hosts an adult Winter History Class on January 22, 2015 that brings together scholars, volunteers, staff and interested guests to explore the history of the Historic Cloister, the Pennsylvania German world and early Pennsylvania and local history.

The worldwide hit “Fiddler on the Roof” will be preformed at Lancaster Bible College’s Winter Musical. This Broadway musical promises to be fun for the whole family.

See you in January!
